ABOUT
Antica Terra is a winery in Oregon’s Willamette Valley, which has risen to fame thanks to owner Maggie Harrison. Located in the Eola-Amity Hills AVA, the striking, rocky terrain is a mix of fractured sandstone and fossils which remain from pre-historic times when Oregon was under the Pacific Ocean. The absence of any topsoil leaves the vines exposed and nutrient deprived, leading to small bunches and low yields. Intense afternoon sun and the wind from the ocean to the West means the grapes can be left to ripen for longer, producing wines with abundant fruit and intensity. Oregon’s cool climate helps produce Chardonnay wines with tension and precision, and powerful, idiosyncratic Pinot Noir with notes of sour cherry and blood orange. Antica Terra wines are intensely mineral and can even be described as oceanic, an expression of the site’s unique geology. Maggie Harrison previously worked at Sine Que Non in Santa Barbara, before founding Lillian; Antica Terra’s sister winery, producing Syrah and Grenache based wines in California’s Central Coast. These wines are equally impressive renditions of their varieties, meticulously crafted with complex, compelling bouquets. We are honoured to distribute Maggie Harrison’s Antica Terra and Lillian wines in Spain.
