ABOUT

When we visited Champagne Goutorbe-Bouillot in Damery (Vallée de la Marne), we were instantly impressed by the ‘Clos des Monnaies’, planted in 1930. A ‘Clos’ is an enclosed vineyard, an admired rarity in all wine regions often belonging to a single owner. Champagne Goutorbe-Bouillot is an independent, family-run estate which is today headed-up by Dominique Papleux and son Bastien. There is a firm focus on sustainable viticulture and organic practices, having achieved the ‘Haute Valeur Environnementale’ and ‘Viticulture Durable’ certifications. A total of eight hectares are planted with a majority of Pinot Meunier, along with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, all with an average age of 30 to 35 years. We are excited to list such a versatile range of individually crafted, accessible Champagnes, which include: Reflets de Rivière Brut, Champ de Craie Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs, Noir Coteaux Brut, Ru des Charmes Brut Rosé and 2011 Clos des Monnaies. Without forgetting Coteaux Champenois La Cabane des Pissottes, a small production red wine made from Pinot Meunier.
