ABOUT

Domaine Bernard-Bonin is one of Meursault’s most recent stars. Acidity, the structural backbone of all great white wines is what this estate has gained a reputation for. Nicolas and his wife, Véronique, have slowly but surely built this estate up since taking over in 1998, adopting a minimum intervention approach in the vineyard and winemaking. The wines boast a true sense of place, offering terroir-driven, artisanal examples from some of the Côte de Beaune’s finest vineyard sites. These include Premier Cru Meursault Les Genevrières and Charmes-Dessus, and Premier Cru Puligny-Montrachet La Garenne and Les Folatières. They also produce a small range of Meursault Village wines from Clos du Cromin, Limozin and Les Tillets. All are oak aged for up to 18 months in 25% new barrels, gifting the wines a pronounced structural dimension intended for long ageing potential. Starting with the generic Bourgogne Blanc ‘Initiales B.B.’, we simply cannot recommend these wines highly enough as they have really risen-up the white Burgundy hierarchy in recent years.
